About Lanikuhana Solar

Lanikuhana Solar is a 14.7 MW solar photovoltaic project located in the Mililani Agricultural Park that has been providing low-cost, clean energy to the Oahu grid since August of 2019 under a 22-year Power Purchase Agreement with Hawaiian Electric.

The land is owned by Clearway, and the site is home to 150 head of sheep who happily graze, keeping grasses maintained. The site is also host to an innovative agrivoltaic research project in partnership with Hawaii Agricultural Research Center (HARC), which explores the potential for the dual use of lands for local energy and local food production.

Significantly contributes to Hawaii’s goal of 100% renewable energy by 2045.

Enough clean electricity to power more than 2,400 homes each year for up to 40 years.

Low pricing for renewable, non-fossil fuel energy source - a third the cost of fossil fuels at the time the project commenced operations.

Reducing the volatility of customer electricity bills.

Capitalizes on the limited availability of applicable State tax credits prior to their expiration and passes on the full benefit of these tax credits to customers/community.
